Scouting the Bulls Receivers
This season the Bulls as a team passed for over 2,700 yards with 17 touchdowns, and here's a look at the top receivers that contributed.
Redshirt freshman Carlton Mitchell 6'4-197,
had a breakout year for the Bulls in '07. After injuries to other
receivers Carlton stepped up his game and leads all USF receivers with
537 yards on 37 receptions (14.51 avg.) and 4 scores. Mitchell showed
big play potential with a 55 yard TD against West Virginia, 75 yard
score against UCF, and a 75 yard score at Pitt.
Carlton was a 2-star prospect out of Gaither HS, FL in 2005
Sophomore Jessie Hester Jr. 6'0-187 pounds,
stepped up as a go to guy and was second on the Bulls in both receiving
yards (377) and reception (31) and scored 4 touchdowns. His best game as
a Bull was at Auburn where he had 6 catches for 64 yards including the
game winning 14 yard TD in overtime.
Jessie was a 3-star prospect coming out of Glades Central HS, FL in 2004 and was the #70 ranked player at the position.
Junior Taurus Johnson 6'1-204 pounds,
emerged as a playmaker for the Bulls totaling 356 yards on 30 receptions
and 3 scores. His best game was against UCF where he had 83 yards and 2
scores. He injured his knee in the 1st quarter at Rutgers and missed
several games, otherwise his numbers would have been bigger.
T.J was a 3-star prospect coming out of Cape coral HS in 2004 and was the #74th ranked prospect at the position
Senior Amarri Jackson 6'5-207 pounds,
totaled 347 yards on 21 receptions with two scores before an injury at
Connecticut sidelined him for the remainder of the regular season. When
in the line up Jackson's size an athleticism causes problems for
opposing defenses. Amarri should be fine for the date in El Paso.
Jackson was a 2-star recruit coming out of Riverview HS, FL. He played basketball at HCC before joining the Bulls in 2005
Junior Marcus Edwards 5'11-175 pounds,
finished the season with 19 catches for 201 yards and one score. Edwards
is a sure handed receiver that scored on a 7 yard pass against
Louisville, and also serves as the teams lead punt returner.
Marcus was a 2-star recruit coming out of Lafayette HS, FL, and was the #89 prospect at the position.
Junior Tight End Cedric Hill 6'3-230, caught
20 passes for 236 yards and a score on the season. Hill is a hybrid type
player that uses his size and speed to stretch defenses. He only scored
once on a 7-yard pass against UCF, but made some huge catches during the

Scouting the Ducks receivers
The Ducks passed for over 2,600 yards with 22 receiving scores on the season.
Junior Jaison Williams 6'5-240, was
outstanding for the Ducks this season catching 51 passes for 804 yards
(15.76 avg.) and 7 scores. Williams is a
physical receiver with a lot of skills that cause a defensive back a lot
of problems and uses his size to his advantage by boxing out
defenders and making difficult receptions.
Williams was a 3-star recruit out of Culver City HS, CA, and was the # 6 ranked TE in 2003
Sophomore tight end Edward Dickson 6'4-240,
was second on the Ducks with 40 receptions for 430 yards and two scores.
Dickson is another big receiver that has a good combination of size and
speed, and uses both to his advantage
Dickson was a 4-star prospect out of Bellflower HS, CA, and was the #6 ranked TE in 2004
Senior Garren Strong 6'3-203 pounds, was
third in receptions for Oregon tallying 24 receptions for 213 yards and
two scores. His best game was against Washington where he caught 5
passes for 53 yards and a score.
Strong was a 2-star recruit coming out of Homestead HS, CA, in 2003
True Freshmen Aaron Pflugrad 5'10-172
pounds, caught 16 passes for 145 yards and a
score, and with a team full of receivers that are 6-2 and taller,
Pflugrad still had an impact in limited play. The son of receivers coach
Robin Pflugrad runs very precise routes with no wasted motion, has speed
and very good hands.
Pflugrad was a 2-star prospect coming out of Harry D. Sheldon HS, OR in 2006
Sophomore Derrick Jones 6'1-176 pounds,
finished the season with 18 receptions for 170 yards and two scores.
Jones was suspended Oct. 19 for a violation of team rules, missed three
games but was later reinstated, playing in two of the last three games.
Jones was a 4-star prospect out of Polytechnic HS, CA, and was the #25 ranked receiver in 2005
Senior Cameron Colvin 6'3-210 pounds, was
fourth in receptions with 20, but third in yardage with 248 yards for
the Ducks and had two scores in 3 starts. Colvin
seemed to have overcome some of the nagging
injuries that have plagued him during his career before an ankle injury
sidelined him for the season
Colvin was a 5-star recruit out of De La Salle HS, CA, and was the #5 ranked receiver in 2003
The Ducks feature a virtual all-star class of former high school TE/WR recruits with one looking to jump to the NFL after this season. The Bulls receivers are a young group that has shown explosiveness and excitement with the ability to make plays this season.
