3-Star O-Guard Justin Green Commits to Bulls

The first big recruiting weekend for USF keeps on paying dividends. As the Bulls addressed another area of need when they got a commitment from 3-star guard Justin Green of Palm Beach Gardens. Read on for the entire story. Stay informed with USFNation.com

After taking an official visit to Tampa this past weekend, offensive lineman Justin Green of Palm Beach Gardens HS made a verbal commitment to play for the Bulls Monday night.

"I was really impressed by my visit to South Florida," said Green. "They are a real family. They are always around each other, not just on the field. It seems like everyone gets along."

The 6-foot-4, 310 pound All-Area lineman chose the Bulls over teams like Clemson and South Carolina who were all competing for his services.

During his visit, Green roomed with Plant City lineman Mark Popek who committed to the Bulls on Sunday after the visit.

"He and I were both surprised by our visit. I remember when we got there on Friday he was telling me how he favored a couple other schools. I was the same way. The visit really opened my eyes."

After his visit Green said he thought about committing after talking with Coach Leavitt.

"Leavitt gave me a lot to think about. After next year, 4 of their linemen graduate, it's close to home and it's a rising program."

The 3-star prospect left with good things to say about the Bulls, but needing some time to think things over. In the end, all it took was one day.

"I was thinking about it towards the end. I really like what they had to offer, so did my mom and aunt. They both liked the facilities, the coaches and the players."

Green who is rated # 37 at the guard position by Scout.com had similar things to say to two local outlets.

''I was leaning toward (USF), anyway,'' Green told the Palm Beach Post's Steve Dorsey. ''I just liked everything about the school, the program, the coaches and the players. It's a program on the rise, and it's close to home. I just decided this is where I want to be.''

"My mind was made up after they showed me such a good time," Green said to the Sun Sentinel's Stacy Hicklin. "It's the place for me to be. The coaches are serious about football, but they care about you academically as well."

Green had visits scheduled for Clemson this week and South Carolina the week after that, but now things have changed.

"I canceled both of those visits, I'm done with visits and I'm 100 percent committed to USF.

With three players already committing after the weekend visits Green told USFNation that more could be on the way.

"I think you'll see a lot of the guys on this weekends visit end up committing to USF. I talked with Tay Odoms, he really liked it. The Lincoln High lineman (Padric Scott), I think he'll commit."

Green is fully qualified with a 2.5 GPA and a 23 on his ACT. Stick with USFNation as we'll have more on Justin Green coming soon.

My Take:

The first big recruiting weekend for the Bulls was by all means successful. Getting a commitment from Bedford on the D-line was huge, but with huge offensive linemen Popek and Green now in the fold, the Bulls are addressing areas of need with quality prospects that will pay dividends for years to come and the best part is their not done yet.
