The Bulls got good news late Sunday when Quavon Taylor, a strong safety/linebacker prospect from Miami (Fla.) Northwestern High School, made a commitment last night to play for USF.
"I committed last night," said Taylor. "I like the family atmosphere and the environment there."
The 6'0 190 pound prospect made an official visit to Tampa this past weekend and then played in the annual Dade/Broward game Sunday night before announcing his decision.
"I had a great visit. I liked Tampa a lot, the people there are really relaxed and it's a nice change from what I'm used to in Miami."
Taylor, played linebacker this past season, recording 127 tackles, nine sacks with one interception but didn't seem to get the credit he deserved until being named All-State First team by the Florida Sports Writers Association Saturday.
"I know I get overlooked, it's okay. I think it makes me work harder."
The All-State prospect had over 13 offers and chose the Bulls over Tennessee, Ole Miss and Memphis.
"South Florida was the first team to offer me. I've liked them for a long time. I fit their system and like what they are trying to accomplish."
The Bulls are looking at Taylor who runs a 4.5 as both a linebacker and a strong safety, and Taylor says he's able to play either position if needed.
"The coaches were great. I sat down with Coach Leavitt and he told me he really liked the way I play and how I run."
Quavon Taylor was one of the more underrated players coming out of Miami this year. He's has a good combination of speed, athleticism, playmaking ability, and is an absolute steal for the Bulls and will be an asset at whatever position he ends up at.
