Cory Grissom Profile

With all the losses on the D-line this year, the staff is hoping that defensive tackle Cory Grissom out of Troupe HS can fill the void. This past weekend the 3-star USF commit took his official visit to Tampa to get a closer look at where he'll be playing college ball.

"I had a great time, it was a good weekend," said Grissom. "I got a chance to meet the coaches and the players and all that good stuff."

During the weekend visit, the 6'2.5-275 pound defensive tackle was hosted by USF true freshman DT Terrell McClain.

"I never met him, but we got a long real well," said Grissom. "He told me how he came in and started as a true freshman and stuff like that.

The talented big man also roomed with USF commit DE Donnel Engram from Tarpon Springs.

"We got along real good. We talked about coming in together on the defensive line."

Grissom also got a chance to meet and hang out with the other recruits who were also visiting this weekend.

"It was my first chance to meet a lot of them, and everybody was real cool, we all talked about coming in together and playing football. Everybody was very excited to get on campus"

Cory also said that he enjoyed meeting and spending time with the players.

"I spent a lot of time with Terrell and Sampson Genus. I also got to meet George Selvie. He was real cool with me."

Over the weekend Grissom also got a chance to spent time talking with Leavitt and the other coaches.

"They all told me how excited they are for me to be coming there and how I can help the team."

With a weekend full of activities what was the future Bull's favorite part?

"It was probably going to the banquet and watching the videos. That and hanging out with all the players. Watching the videos got you all pumped up. My favorite part was watching George Selvie making the sacks and thinking that one day that be me."

During the season Grissom said he had 13 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and a whole lot of tackles. Now that the season is over, Grissom who is already qualified with a 2.98 GPA and scored a 19 on the ACT is focused on training and getting prepared for when he gets to campus.

"I want to work on getting faster and stronger. I'm wrestling now in the heavyweight class this year, and that should help me some."

Grissom stated that he knew a lot about the program already, but how did he rate his official visit to the Bulls?

"It was great, and I had a real good time. It was exactly how I thought it would be. That's why I chose them and I'm real excited to be a Bull."
