The B.J. Daniels sweepstakes took a surprising turn on Thursday when an expected visit to Michigan this weekend was canceled. Daniels says the reason was due to a lack of a prior relationship with the Big Blue.
"I'm not going to Michigan this weekend."
"We never established a relationship. They haven't been on me very long and I think that one trip up there to see the facilities and campus won't be enough for me to make a decision."
With Michigan now out of the picture, it will come down to either Memphis or South Florida. Daniels has visited each school – USF two weeks ago and Memphis this past weekend. Here are his thoughts on the remaining two:
Memphis:"I enjoyed my visit a lot. They have the number one basketball team and a football team that has been to a bowl game four out of the last five years. I'm very impressed with them and their family atmosphere. Basketball is very important to me and they are pretty good at it! I had a chance to talk with Coach Calipari and that meant a lot."
USF: "I enjoyed that visit as well. It gave me a chance to talk to the players and get to know them. Most of them are from around Florida and Valdosta area. I actually played against a bunch of them in high school. We talked about the games, it was nice to be on the same page. I also really liked the stadium, I never knew it was that big when I watched it on TV. It was a real nice visit."
This weekend B.J. says he's going to take it east, hangout with his girlfriend and go to a basketball game. He'll announce his decision at 12 noon on Signing Day.
