Today is Super Bowl Sunday, one of the biggest most watched events of the year. While waiting for the Big game to begin, we caught up with one of the Bulls coveted prospects, George Baker.
"I'm just chilling right now," said Baker. "I'm going over to my auntie's house to watch the game, and I'm pulling for the Patriots."
With just days until signing day a lot has happened with George Baker, the talented corner from Archbishop Carroll HS in Miami. Previously, the 3-star corner was considered a soft commit to Auburn, but that's no longer the case.
"I'm not committed to Auburn any longer, but I still like them and they are still among my top choices."
Last week Baker said they're were four schools that were still in the running, Auburn, Rutgers, South Florida and UCF, but since that has changed as well.
"I brought it down to a top three, Auburn, Rutgers, and South Florida. I'm not considering UCF any longer."
Baker is ranked #48 at the corner position and knows what he's looking for in a program.
"I'm looking for a program where I feel very comfortable with the coaches, the players, and the whole atmosphere around the college. I also want the chance to possible play early as a freshman."
Coaches from all three schools visited Baker at his school last week, and the talented corner had something to say about each school.
Auburn – "I like the coaching staff and Eddie Grant. I like the program and their depth chart is pretty good too."
Rutgers – "It's in New Jersey, but that's not a big factor for me. I like the coaches, and feel like we got along and have a good relationship. Every time we speak, I feel like they're really interested in me.'
South Florida – "I have a real good relationship with Coach Rachel, Coach Scott and Coach Douglas. Also, the Head coach Jim Leavitt, I like him a lot. When I went there on my visit I just liked being around him. He's a real cool person, and I like him as a head coach. The depth chart at South Florida looks real good too. They're losing three corners to the NFL draft, and they're probably going very high. When I was on my visit I had a real good time meeting with the players, everybody was real cool to me."
With only days until signing day does the talented corner have a leader?
"At this time I have a leader, but I don't want to mention it yet."
When will the highly coveted corner with blazing speed make his decision?
"I'll be making my decision/announcement around 10-10:30 Wednesday."
