Sutton has a strong relationship with Heath

Maurice Sutton of Largo HS, in Maryland says that he's intrigued by Coach Stan Heath and the basketball program at South Florida. Find out what other Big East programs have offered, what visits he'll take and when a final decision will be made. Only on!

The South Florida basketball team is lacking the size to play competitively in the Big East and that's something head coach Stan Heath is working on changing. Coach Heath has his sights set on a C/PF that he hopes will take the Bulls to the next level. Maurice Sutton told's Dave Telep 3 weeks ago that he's been receiving interest from the Bulls and other Big East teams.

Back then it was mainly USF and Seton Hall, now Sutton says half-a-dozen other teams have jumped into the picture.

"I've got offers from Miami (Florida), Marquette, USF, Seton Hall, La Salle and Xavier." Sutton added, "I'm also getting calls from a few other teams that haven't offered. Kentucky calls now, U Conn, St. Johns, Hawaii and Boston College."

Sutton says his team, who is wrapping up the regular season in the next two weeks is hitting it's stride heading into the playoffs with a 17-4 record. Maurice himself isn't playing too bad either – averaging 18 points a game, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks.

"The ring is the only thing right now. Our focus is on playing good basketball heading into the playoffs."

Off the court Sutton is receiving plenty of interest from a coach that has had a long relationship with the 6-foot-10 center.

"Coach Heath has been on me for a long time, he started recruiting me while he was at Arkansas. We've been talking for almost two years and he's real good friends with my coach."

"I think Coach is doing a great job at USF. He's changing things down there, he's changing the whole game around. He's real interesting and I'm real interested in them."

As of now the Big Man does not have a top 5, but he did say there is a group that has distanced themselves from the rest of the pack.

"I wouldn't call it a top 5, but there is a group that I consider leaders because they've been by my side for a while. USF, Seton Hall, La Salle and Niagra."

Niagra has not offered yet, however they have been in constant contact with Maurice. Developing a relationship with coaches is important to Sutton when considering a future school.

"I'm looking for a place where I can develop my talent, a place where when I graduate my degree will mean something and a place where I can get on the court."

In college Maurice plans to play Power Forward and major in business management. He says that after his season he will take a couple visits and hopes to make a decision a few weeks after the playoffs conclude.

"I'm not sure about my visit schedule yet, I know USF will be one of them, I just don't have a date set."
