In early February South Florida head coach Stan Heath offered 6-foot-10 Steve Goins from Curie Metropolitan high school in Chicago, Illinois. Now Goins says an official visit has been set with the Bulls.
"My visit with South Florida is scheduled for the 9th of March." Said Goins.
"I haven't had a chance to learn a lot about USF, so this visit is important."
Coach Heath has called Goins a couple times in the past month and is recruiting him more as a power forward.
"I've talked to coach a few times. He seems pretty cool."
Goins high school team, is about to start the state playoffs this Tuesday. During the regular season he averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. After the season is over Steve plans on taking a few visits and then make a decision.
"I'm probably going to make up my mind when the state playoffs end on March 16th."
Goins said he's not sure exactly what schools he's going to visit, except that U Conn and USF would definitely be two of them. There had been rumors that Steve was close academically, but he told USFNation that his grades were in order, he's retaking one of the tests and expects to qualify.
Check back for a full update on Steve Goins after his official visit to South Florida.
