The Miami area is loaded with talent once again and a name Bulls fans need to know is Frankie Telfort from Gulliver Prep. The 5-foot-11, 197 pound linebacker has over 14 offers from teams like Alabama, UCF, Florida, Florida State, USF, Tennessee and West Virginia to name a few. The South Florida coaching staff knew he was BCS material way back when he was a freshman.
"That's actually a funny story." Said Telfort. "USF tried to offer me my ninth grade year when I was playing at Coral Reef. My coach told them they couldn't cause I was only in ninth grade. He didn't want me to have an offer as a freshman."
After that episode USF backed off and offered him about a month ago. Telfort says the Bulls are recruiting him pretty hard, but nobody is showing him as much interest as the Gators.
"UF has been on me for a while, USF tried offering me way back, but UF has stayed on me hard for two years."
Telfort has over a dozen offers he says the Bulls are a team that intrigues him.
"I know they have a really aggressive defense and they run a great scheme."
"I plan on making a trip over there this spring or summer, either for a camp or maybe just to go check out their facilities."
Although he missed 5 games with a sprained ligament in his thumb Frankie still racked up 67 tackles and 2 forced fumbles as a junior at Gulliver Prep. Telfort says he has no favorites this early, but says USF is doing a good job of recruiting him.
"I talk with Coach (Larry) Scott. He's a cool guy, fun to talk to and he has a lot of stories."
Telfort wants to be a pre-med student at whatever college he attends. He currently has a 3.3 GPA and will take the SAT test for the first time in June.
