With two starting linebackers graduating after next season, restocking the pantry is going to be a priority for the Bulls. One prospect the staff has their eyes on is 5'11-210 pound Larvez Pooh Bear Mars from talent rich Apopka HS. Don't let the teddy bear sounding name fool you, this kid can hit like a truck.

"A lot of scouts say I'm a big hitter, that can really deliver a hit, and I got a lot of speed too."

Mars who runs the 40 in 4.58, helped lead Apopka to a 13-2 record and a berth into the Class 6A play-offs where they lost to Boone in the semis. During the season Pooh Bear amassed 158 tackles, 15 for a loss, four forced fumbles, and an interception.

"I love to blitz and hit the quarterback, but I really love putting a big hit on the running back and stopping him in his tracks. I like being known as a run stopper. When a team lines up in the I-formation, then I know they have a fullback that I can blow up."

After his junior season Mars racked up the accolades, including Class 6A All-State Team Honorable mention, All Central-Florida football team 2nd team by the Orlando Sentinel, and All-Metro Conference football team which is named by coaches, and was also named a First Team Linebacker for the 2007 all FNL team.

"I'm getting interest from mostly everybody. I got a call from Florida State yesterday, and have been hearing from Kansas State, South Florida, Mississippi, Kentucky, FIU, FAU a whole bunch of schools been calling and sending letters."

As of now the talented prospect hasn't received any offers, but with all the interest that should change soon enough. When asked what seven schools he would like displayed on his profile?

"Right now I'm interested in UF, Miami, FSU, USF, Oregon, Ohio State, and UCF."

Pooh Bear plays linebacker in high school but where is he projected to play in college?

"I played mostly middle all year, but I also play outside. I'll probably play either outside linebacker or safety in college."

Even though Mars said he's never been to USF before, he's very familiar with the program.

"I know they were No. 2 at one point before they lost to Rutgers. They have a real good program that is on the rise, and last year put them on my radar."

The Apopka star who models himself after Ray Lewis is also aware of several former USF linebackers.

"I saw the Bulls on T.V. a lot and I've heard of Stephen Nicholas , but have been watching Ben Moffitt. I really like the way he plays."

Although it's early in the recruiting period, Mars knows what he's looking for in a program.

"I'm looking for a program that has a rich tradition, a good family atmosphere, and good on Jesus Christ, good coaches, fun coaches, and good academics. That's basically it. I want to play early, but if I have too sit out the year and redshirt, then I'll do it."

Pooh Bear has been a terror on the field, and even though he will be a four year starter, he still plans on becoming a better player.

"Over the past year my tackling has improved, and I've become a better leader for my teammates. This year I'm working on my speed, and my tackling, I want to improve in all areas of my game."

Mars says he's not sure of all of his camping plans for spring and summer yet, but does have one event he is aims on attending.

"I'm planning on going to the 7-on-7 passing camp being held at USF at the end of March. My teammate Jeremy Gallon and I were both invited and I'm real excited about that."
