This past weekend Curie Metropolitan high school center Steve Goins was supposed to make a trip to Tampa, but the visit was changed.

"I was going to go to South Florida this weekend but they changed the date to the 29th of this month."

The 6-foot-10 center and maybe one of the top sleepers in the country wasn't at first sure why the visit was changed, but when asked if it had to do with USF being on spring break this week.

"Yeah I think that was a big reason,' said Goins. "It was their break and everybody would have been gone."

With this weekend plans changed the talented big man who has already taken an unofficial visit to UIC, has a new visit schedule.

"I‘m going to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, next weekend, then USF, and then probably UCONN after that."

What schools are leading for the athletic Condor center?

"Right now I like UIC, USF, UCONN, and Texas A&M."

The talented big man says he know some about all four schools and has been talking to Bulls Coach Stan Heath as well.

"I talk to coach Heath and he says that their big man is leaving and they need somebody to come in and lead the team in rebounding and scoring."

Goins, just finished his season, averaging 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, and helped Curie high school to a regional championship and a state berth where they fell to Lyons HS. Now that the season is over besides making visits Goins said he'll be staying busy.

"This spring I'll be training a lot, working on my game, my grades, and everything else to get better."
