Difton: "I'm no longer a commit"

Dwayne Difton tells USFNation he has decommitted from the Bulls '09 recruiting class. He also talks about who his favorite is, the phone call he made to coach Larry Scott and what other schools are now showing him interst. Get it only on USFNation.com!

"Basically I talked to my mom and she thinks I jumped the gun and I need to explore some more."

The decommit shouldn't be a big surprise to USFNation members, last week we reported on the premium recruiting board that Dwayne was having second thoughts, but today it's official. Don't expect Difton to commit elsewhere any time soon, he's just taking a little more time to think things over. He plans to make his final decision after his high school season. According to him USF is still at the top of his list.

"USF is my top choice. I'm decommitting because that's what my family thinks is best. I called coach Scott and let him know. He said they are still going to recruit me and we have a strong relationship."

Some may speculate that Difton's impressive performances at recent combines has led to increased interest from colleges causing him to re-think his commitment, however Difton disagrees.

"No, that's not a factor in this decision. It's strictly a family decision. I know I can perform well at these camps, it doesn't mean anything to me."

Since committing to South Florida there are a few other schools that have jumped into the picture.

"Nobody else has offered, but Virginia, Minnesota, Auburn and Boston College have all said they plan to offer me sometime this spring."

This summer Difton plans on attending the USF Senior Showcase Camp and we'll keep you posted on any developments in his recruitment including new offers, visits and camps.
