Get ready, he's about to blow up!

You've heard of Jarvis Giles, you've heard of Adaris Bellamy and you've certainly heard of Aaron Murray. All those recruits are big time names in the Tampa Bay Area, well there is one you haven't heard of, but you will soon! Find out who the NEXT big name is going to be coming out of Tampa. Only on!

Who's the next big name -- it's Lindsey Lamar from Hillsborough High School, and he's the best player in Tampa that you've never heard of. Last season after battling through a knee injury Lamar rushed for 938 yards and 8 touchdowns. Not bad for a junior, so why isn't he a highly touted recruit?

"My height is the biggest reason I'm not as well known." Said the 5'9 running back.

At 5-foot-9, 160 pounds it's a matter of inches that separate him from the rest of the top recruits, but Lamar's not concerned.

"I know I'm underrated, what can I do though? I just have to wait till the season starts and do it on the field. I'm going to go out and do my thing and I'll be fine."

His name recognition took a big leap on Monday, Lindsey received three offers in one day, including South Florida, Boston College and Georgia (track scholarship). For the record, the Bulls were technically the first to offer.

"I got the USF offer first, I knew it was coming, I talked to Coach Larry Scott a few days before."

There will be plenty more offers on the way once more coaches make their rounds through Tampa. The first thing coaches notice is that Lamar does it all - he's the starting running back, return man and he's a track star. Last weekend Lamar ran the 100-meter race in Punta Gorda and posted an eye-opening 10.35, he also won the 200 with a time of 21.41. Next weekend he is competing in the state finals and is considered one of the favorites.

Off the field Lamar is an honor student boasting a 3.4 GPA. He's scheduled to take the ACT on June 14th. Not only does he have the speed teams across America are looking for, he's also got the grades. Expect this local standout to have a dozen offers by the summer. Does that mean he'll forget about the hometown team?

"It means a lot that they offered first." Adding, "I've liked USF for a while and they have shown me a lot of interest."

Lamar said there are two things that standout when he thinks of South Florida, one is their "academics first" approach to their athletes and the second is the fact that it's close to his friends and family.

Also showing interest is Michigan State, Boise State, Indiana and Iowa. All teams are expected to offer the speedster this spring. Stick with as we follow Lindsey Lamar throughout the recruiting process.
