"USF offered me about 2 months ago." Said Jamal Reid, "They offered me as a wide receiver. Most schools like me there, I also play DB, so some teams have said they want me as an ATH."

Last year Reid was one of the state's top two-way players, he was a first team All-State pick as a junior. He finished the year with over 40 catches for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air and 45 tackles with 10 picks on defense. Reid will be a 4 year starter and has caught the eye of several college teams.

"I have about 8 offers. I got Georgia Tech, Michigan State, USF, Miami, UCF, Ole Miss, FIU and Mississippi State."

At 6-foot, 175 pounds, Reid uses his 4.45 speed and leaping ability to out-work opposing corner backs for the ball.

"I can go up and get it, I got speed and great hands. This spring I'm working on getting off the ball quicker, and a better burst out of my cuts."

Reid says he's quite familiar with the South Florida program having two cousins that are currently on the team. Marcus Edwards and Darren Powe, Powe was a teammate of Reid's when Reid was a freshman and sophomore at Lafayette.

"I talk to those guys all the time. Darren has actually been in town the last few weekends. We talk about USF sometimes, they tell me it's a great place to play football and it's a good school to go to."

Coach Mike Canales is Jamal's main recruiter and the two have known each other for about a year and a half.

"Coach Canales is a cool guy. I talked to him at their game last year and I've been talking to him more since signing day."

It's too early for the 4-star WR to name favorites, he says that wont happen until he's able to visit some of the schools that have offered. However growing up Jamal was a Florida Gator fan.

"That was my team growing up. If they offer me it would be nice, but even if they do I'm still going to look out for my best opportunity."

This summer Reid plans to hit the road with his uncle and workout for as many college teams as he can. He says South Florida will be one of his stops this summer. Stick with USFNation for the latest on Jamal Reid.
