USF, South Carolina lead for Miramar WR

With the Bulls looking to take 4 WR's in the '09 class, USFNation caught up with one of their top targets -- Stedman Bailey. He tells us why he likes USF and what he's looking for in a college. Read on for the entire story.

"I like the spread offense that South Florida runs. That's the kind of offense I'm looking to play for in college. With them running the spread it peaks my interest even more."

Stedman Bailey, wide receiver from Miramar High School is one of the top targets this year for the Bulls who are looking to take four receivers in the '09 class. Bailey, 5-foot-11, 187 pounds is a hard worker on and off the field, he has a 2.8 core GPA and has been working this entire offseason on getting better.

"I've been lifting for a few months and running extra routes with my QB."

The QB he speaks of also has a USF offer, Eugene Smith. The two have helped each other to be highly recruited by teams across the country. Smith has over 20 offers and Bailey has offers from Boston College, USF, Rutgers, Iowa and South Carolina to name a few. Overall he's collected 7 total offers.

"I'd say that out of all the teams USF and South Carolina are recruiting me the hardest." Adding, "Those are also the two teams that are at the top of my list."

Bailey says neither is a clear favorite, but they have separated themselves from the rest of his offers. Bailey, who runs a 4.40 forty says the fact that USF is close to home gives them a bit of an advantage.

"It doesn't matter too much where the school is located, but with South Florida being in state and not too far from my home it gives them an edge."

Last season Eugene and Stedman hooked up 48 times for 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. This year the two look not only to build on those numbers but set records as well.

"Most of all our goal is to bring a state title to Miramar, we also want to set the county record for touchdowns and just have a great year together."

This summer Stedman Bailey will be at USF's one-day camp in June and he'll make several other trips that he's in the midst of planning with his coach. Stick with USFNation for the latest.
