Danous Estenor Profile
USFNation.com: What have you been up to while getting ready for USF?
Danous Estenor: I've just been training, working hard and getting ready to join USF. There's this place I train at a few days during the week called athletes advantage. We work on special drills and things like that, it really helps, and then I lift weights on the other days.
USFN: What were the main reasons you chose USF?
Danous: Basically, I just liked the coaching staff and the environment at USF. I felt it fit me, and everything was just right at USF.
USFN: Which positions do you play and what are the Bulls recruiting you for?
Danous: I played right tackle and nose guard in high school. They're told me I'll be starting off at nose guard, the one technique. I like that, because I prefer to play on defense.
USFN: Do you know any current Bulls?
Danous: I know Quincy Okolie. I met a couple of players during visits, but
USFN: What type of defense do you like to play in the most?
Danous: I mostly like to play in the 4-4. I feel like I'm more successful in that, but playing in a 4-3 is just fine.
USFN: Which type of offense do you like to see when you get to the line?
Danous: I like to see pass plays a lot. It doesn't matter the formation or set, as long as I can get through the line. That's all I care about.
USFN: When you're on offense, what type of defense do you like to see when you get to the line?
Danous: I like it when they go man on. Instead of them in gaps, I like it when they are in man. It doesn't matter the formation, D-tackles switching off, and going one-on one with the defense. I like that.
USFN: If they ask, are you flexible to play at a position of need and excel at it?
Danous: I prefer defense, but what ever position they need me to play on the team, I'll do it. If they feel they want to switch me to offense and that I'll better help the team on offense, and then I'll play offense. I'll play wherever they need me at or want me at.
USFN: While on defense, is there a favorite play that you like to run?
Danous: In high school we basically ran the 4-4 defense, and they didn't really have plays, they just told me to go in and kill the quarterback.
USFN: What are some of your strengths as a player?
Danous: My strengths are probably my aggression, I never give up on the play, and I always give it my all.
USFN: Are they're any special moves you like to use?
Danous: I like the swim move and I like the Bull rush. With the swim move you just get rid of the guy quick, and with a bull rush you get all into the guy, and I like to get in peoples faces.
USFN: Is there anything about you that catches opponent's off-guard?
Danous: I'd say my quickness. Most people look at me and my size, and don't expect me to be this quick.
USFN: What would you like to work on as a player?
Danous: I like to work on a little bit of everything. My technique, my moves, and continue to get stronger.
USFN: What is your favorite thing to do on the field?
Danous: I like to get through the line and cream the quarterback.
USFN: Is there anything else people learn about you once they see you play?
Danous: Probably my aggressiveness, and how I take the game, and play with so many emotions.
USFN: Is there a player on another level, college or pro that you model your game after?
Danous: In College I always liked Glen Dorsey, and in the NFL I like Jeff Saturday.
USFN: What is your current height, weight and 40 yard time?
Danous: Currently, I'm about 6'4 and 300 pounds. I run a 40 in a 5.3.
USFN: How are you going to do to stay in shape before you get to Campus?
Danous: I train at Athlete's Advantage three days a week and I do different foot work drills. I also do conditioning and run mostly 300's. We do a couple of those for conditioning. In the weight room I'm benching 330, and squat 405.
USFN: Do you play any other sports?
Danous: I play basketball and track. I play center and power forward, and throw shot-put in track. I really feel that playing basketball has helped my footwork, and build my quickness
USFN: Are there any issues if they ask you to redshirt?
Danous: If they ask me to redshirt then I'll probably be a little disappointed, but if the staff feels that it is better for me to improve for next year, then I'll be fine. I may be a bit disappointed, but fine.
USFN: Do you play special teams?
Danous: I did play my junior year but not this last season.
USFN: What do
you plan to accomplish while at USF?
Danous: I want to get a college degree, and become a better man. I want to either major in Business or sports management. I want to be successful in college and help the team. Hopefully the next step will be the NFL for me.
USFN: What teams are you looking forward to playing against in the next 4 years?
Danous: I want to play against Miami, Florida, West Virginia, and Pittsburg, I know a couple of players going to Florida, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, and have always liked Miami growing up, so I'm looking forward to that.
USFN: When I say USF, what
three things come to your head?
Danous: USF, great campus, great opportunity, and a great chance to become something special.
USFN: You're already qualified, but are taking the test again?
Danous: Yes I'm taking it again to bring up my reading scores. People ask why, and it's for my own benefit, I'm not satisfied with my reading scores.
USFN: I saw you at
a few practices over the spring, what was that like?
Danous: I loved it, every time made me want to get over there that much sooner.
USFN: Are you excited to get to campus?
Danous: I'm ready to go now! I'd like to leave today if I could, but still have a few more weeks to go.
USFN: Is there anything you want to say to USF fans?
Danous: Get ready for a great season!
