Texas QB Excited by Recent USF Offer

This is a big year for quarterback recruits and the staff at USF has been very selective with who they offer. The latest name to be added to the QB board is Jacob Karam. Find out why he thinks he's a good fit in USF's offense, what he likes about current QB Matt Grothe, who else has offered and much more. Only on USFNation.com -- Get it First, Get it Fast!

The Bulls have added another name to their already elite list of offered quarterbacks. The latest is Jacob Karam from Friendswood HS in Texas, just outside of Houston.

"Coach (Mike) Canales came by my school about two weeks ago and they offered me shortly after that."

As a junior the 6-foot-2, 201 pound gunslinger threw for 1,951 yards (122-of-221) and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for five scores and was named Honorable Mention TSWA 4A All-State and 1st Team All-District 23-4A, as well as 1st Team 4A Region III Team Texas.

"I'm looking forward to our senior season. Our team just finished up spring practice. We answered a lot of the questions our team had going in and our younger guys look they are ready to play."

Offering Jacob Karam was an easy decision for the Bulls, he has a strong arm, quick release and runs in the 4.5 range. His game is similar to current USF quarterback Matt Grothe and he even wears the same number, 8.

"Matt Grothe is a competitor and I like him a lot." Adding, "I think I could be successful in the offense they (USF) run and take it to the next level."

One of the factors in Karam's decision will be what type of offense teams interested in him run.

"I want to play in a spread, just like what South Florida runs. That's how I like to play."

Even though Jacob is in Texas he's been exposed to USF, mainly because of their success last season, making it all the way to number two in the AP polls.

"They had a pretty good season last year and from what the coaches are telling me they are real dedicated and looking to improve, that excites me a lot."

Besides USF, Karam has 10 other offers including Stanford, Missouri, Arizona, Louisville, Vanderbilt and Houston to name a few. Jacob says he would like to make an early decision, but wants to wait until the offers slow. With most of his offers coming from out of state he says location is not an issue.

"I haven't been to Tampa but from what I hear it's beautiful. I'm going to make an unofficial visit there in July. We are going to Jacksonville for a family thing and after that we'll take a drive over to Tampa and check out the school."

Jacob is also working on a few other visits.

"I'm going to a camp at Texas Tech and I'm trying to plan visits to Arizona, Vanderbilt and Tennessee."

Later on in June USFNation will catch back up with Jacob Karam once he schedules his trip to Tampa.
