Gainesville OT Names a Leader

This 6'5, 280 pound tackle out of Gainesville recently participated in USF's first ever SuperBull. He impressed the coaching staff so much that he was offered a few days later. Now he talks with USFNation.com about who his favorite team and what visit he's currently working on setting. Read on for the details.

"South Florida is my number one right now."

Kendall Kelly from Gainesville high school caught the eye of the USFNation staff while at the SuperBull. In our break-down we ranked him as the top lineman at the camp and not too long after he received an offer from USF. At the time Kelly only had an Arkansas offer, he says he's received two others besides USF.

"I have four total now. Middle Tennessee, Arkansas and Charleston Southern."

At 6-foot-5, 280 pounds Kelly is one of those recruits that has flown under the radar, something he says he doesn't mind. Kelly told USFNation that he's close to a decision and is waiting on one visit.

"USF is my favorite, but I can't make a decision without including my parents. I want to take a visit to Tampa before my season starts and show my parents around."

What is it that attracts Kelly to South Florida?

"I have a good relationship with Coach (Mike) Simmonds. We talk once a week about everyday stuff, life after football and we talk about USF. I also like the facilities and I've seen the campus while I was at their junior day."

Kelly told USFNation that he's working on scheduling a date and he'll let us know as soon as it's set. Stay tuned for the latest on Kendall Kelly and the rest of the '09 class.
