"Hit Man" Has USF in Top 5

Vlad Emilien, safety from Plantation HS in Miami tells USFNation that he's dropped Ohio State and is focusing on 5 schools. Find out where USF ranks amongst his leaders. Only on USFNation.com!

A torn ACL has slowed Vlad Emilien on the field but not off. The calls from college coaches have only increased since his injury, coaches across the country are letting him know that they still want him and are hoping for a speedy recovery.

"A lot of teams are telling me I can deal with this and come back from it. The schools that were on me before think other schools are going to jump on me so they are coming at me even harder now."

The schools he says he says he's considering most are Michigan, Wake Forest, USF, Wisconsin and Stanford in no particular order. He says that Michigan is recruiting him the hardest right now, but the Bulls are also showing a lot of love.

"I talk with Coach Scott and Coach Douglas on a regular basis, they came by my school before the FIU game."

Vlad also says that he makes sure he catches all the USF games on TV as well.

"I've been following USF a lot. They had two big wins recently over Kansas and UCF. They are playing real well right now, they're undefeated and ranked number 12 in the nation, that's a plus."

Since he's not out on the field with his team, Vlad spends most of his time rehabbing and hitting the books. "I'm rehabbing a lot. I am ahead of schedule, I see my orthropedic specialist in a few weeks for my next checkup." Adding, "I've been rehabbing everyday while my team practices with a trainer at my school."

Vlad is on pace to graduate in January, he has a core GPA of 3.5.

"I need to graduate early so I can get in to spring practice and show these coaches that I'm ready to go and fully recovered."

Vlad says he's planning an unofficial visit next week to USF for the Thursday night Pitt game. As far as official visits go Emilien has three scheduled so far.

" I got Michigan on October 24th, Wisconsin on October 10th and Stanford on November 15th."

His decision will come on November 23rd and he says there are a couple main factors that will play into his final selection.

"I'm looking at the school environment and academics, how I relate to the coaching staff, and basically how I will enjoy myself for the four years I am there. I don't want to have any regrets after I make my decision."

Before making a decision Vlad says he'll narrow down his top 5 to a top 3 in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned to see if the Bulls will make the cut.
