The inaugural MagicJack St. Petersburg Bowl will be played at Tropicana Field in Tampa on Saturday, December 20. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be carried on ESPN2. The magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl press conference is set Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the St. Pete Pier with both head coaches to be in attendance.

This is the fourth straight bowl appearance for the Bulls, who are 1-2 all-time in bowl games. In the Bulls first Bowl appearance they lost 14-0 to NC State in the 2005 Meineke Car Care Bow. The Bulls got their first bowl win beating ECU 24-7 in 2006, and lost 56-21 to Oregon in the 2007 Brut Sun Bowl.

The Bulls and Tigers have met four times since 2001 with both teams winning twice. Memphis won the first match up 17-9 in 2001, and then USF won 31-28 in 2002, and 21-16 in 2003, with Memphis winning the last contest 31-15 in 2004.

The Tigers have a 6-6 overall record and finished second place in the East Division of C-USA with a 4-4 conference record. Memphis ranks fifth in total offense and sixth in scoring offense in Conference USA, with 2,467 yards offense on the ground and 2,719 passing. The ground game is led by RB Curtis Steele's 1,175 yards and seven TD that ranks third in Conference USA in total yards and yards per game.

On the other side of the ball, the Tigers defense ranks third in total defense, second in pass defense, and fifth in run defense in the C-USA. Junior DB Alton Starr is the leading tackler with 86.

The game will be played indoors at Tropicana Field and will mark just the third time that USF has played in a dome. The other two contests were at the Carrier Dome, home of the Syracuse Orange. USF won those games, 27-0 in 2005 and 41-10 in 2007. USF has practiced at the Trop before, but never played in the local venue.

The Dec. 20 date will mark the earliest bowl game in USF history and will also be the first time that the Bulls will be the designated home team, after being the designated road team in all three previous bowl games. This will also be only the third time that USF has played in a dome in the programs history.
