Selvie, McKenzie Earn First-Team All-Big East

USF defensive end George Selvie and linebacker Tyrone McKenzie earned All-BIG EAST First team honors and four other Bulls, strong safety Carlton Williams, offensive guard Matt Huners, offensive tackle Marc Dile and tight end Cedric Hill were all named to the All-Conference team for the first time.

When the BIG EAST Conference announced the post season awards Wednesday morning, five Bulls earned recognition with linebacker Tyrone McKenzie and defensive end George Selvie being named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.

This is the third straight year that multiple USF players earned first team honors. In the four years since joining the Big East, the Bulls now have nine first team selections. Last year DE George Selvie, LB Ben Moffitt and CB Mike Jenkins were selected. In 2006 LB Stephen Nicolas, KR Ean Randolph, and CB Trae Williams all earned first team. Andre Hall was the team's lone first team pick in 2005.

Junior defensive end George Selvie was hampered with injuries this season, missing three games, but still finished with 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season. This is the second straight season that Selvie has been named to the first team, and was also the 2007 Big East Defensive Player of the Year. Selvie is also the first two-time All-American in USF history.

Senior linebacker Tyrone McKenzie led the Bulls with 105 tackles, 14 for a loss, with one sack during the season. This is the third consecutive season that T-Mac has totaled at least 100 tackles. The Riverview native was the Bulls only unanimous pick by the league's coaches after earning a second-team BIG EAST selection in 2007.

Four other Bulls were named second team All-BIG EAST. Senior strong safety Carlton Williams, senior offensive guard Matt Huners, senior offensive tackle Marc Dile and senior tight end Cedric Hill were all honored by the conference for the first time.

Senior strong safety Carlton Williams led the Bulls secondary with 51 tackles, three interceptions, six pass breakups and two tackles for loss this season, and just set the USF career record for games started (46) and games played (50).

Senior tight end Cedric Hill has 15 receptions for 15 receptions for 187 yards and two touchdowns this season, and has played in every game, 50 in all, since arriving at USF.

Senior offensive linemen guard Matt Huners and tackle Marc Dile were both honored for the first time after playing in every game this season.
