In '07 Rudell Crim was one of the top DB prospects in Florida, receiving offers from Alabma, Florida, Louisville, West Virginia, South Florida and Illinois to name a few. However, his plans of playing for a BCS team were put on hold when he found out he was academically ineligible and would have to attend JUCO.
Two years later Crim is ready to graduate from Butler CC in May of '09. He started every game of his sophomore year at Butler racking up 35 tackles, 3 picks and 1 returned for a TD. The 6-foot, 190 pound former Rickards HS star is being recruited by most schools as a cornerback.
One familiar team that is back in the picture is USF, they recruited him heavily out of high school and are now recruiting him from JUCO.
"USF offered me toward the end of my season, sometime near the end of October." Said Crim, "The first phone call I got was from Coach Leavitt. He told me they were going to offer me and then I got a letter in the mail a few days later."
Rudell says he's still talks to Coach Leavitt, but hears from Coach Kevin Patrick on a weekly basis.
"Right now USF tells me they want to bring me in as a corner. I'm able to play safety if they need me too, but they tell me they want me at corner."
Besides USF, Crim says there are 3 other schools he's giving serious consideration to.
"Arkansas, Oregon and Kansas State are recruiting me hard. I've already visited Oregon and I'm planning on visiting Arkansas after New Years."
Crim says he has a visit set with USF on January 15th and although he plans on visiting Arkansas, he doesn't have an exact date set.
"I don't have a leader yet because I'm waiting to take all my visits. I like those 4 schools, (Oregon, USF, Arkansas, Kansas State) I just need to take my visits so I can fill in all the little details, like which school fits me the best."
Not only is Rudell familiar with the Bulls from when they recruited him two years ago, he also has a teammate at Butler CC who has already committed to USF – WR Edgard Theliar.
"Edgard is a salesman!" Adding, "He tells me it's a great school and he sees me fitting in with the players there. Of course with him being there it would be a fun chance to play together again. We have become pretty good friends because we both came to Butler from Florida."
Coming home would be nice for Crim, but he says bring away from home for two years has showed him that if the right situation happens to be out-of-state he knows he can handle it. Rudell says he will announce his decision a week or two before Signing Day, depending on when he takes his last visit.
