All-State P/K Chris Veron Commits To USF

Ocala Forest P/K Chris Veron, a Class 4A first team All-State selection as a junior committed to the University of South Florida on Thursday.

After receiving an offer last week, Ocala Forest Kicker/Punter Chris Veron, committed to USF on Thursday afternoon.

"Everything went great on my visit," said Veron. "After talking with my parents I made the decision to commit,"

Veron was a class 4A first team All-State selection after averaging 43–yards a punt and kicking a 51-yard field goal as a junior for the Wildcats.

"I liked everything about the school," said Veron. "It's close to home in a great city, and they have great academics and I like program a lot."

The 6'3-210 pound kicker was recruited by Coach Mike Simmonds, and was invited to the USF SuperBull in June, and after a strong performance at the camp was offered last week.

"I had a great time at the SuperBull camp, I really liked kicking in Raymond James Stadium," said Veron.

Veron also had interest from Alabama, Florida State, Miami, FAU, and also received a lot of letters from other schools before getting offered by USF last week.

"It felt really great when I got the offer," said Veron. "They're actually recruiting me as both a punter and as kicker, but I'm probably going to concentrate more on punting."

Besides punting and kicking for Ocala Forest, Veron, also handled kick-offs and had 55 of 63 touchbacks on kick-offs.

"I felt really comfortable with my choice, and now I can concentrate on my senior year."
