Marquel Wade is one of the premier wide receivers in North Florida for 2010. The Jacksonville WR was once considered a near lock for USF. But a late offer from the Bulls and new interest from UGA has changed his recruitment.
"When I was real high on USF I couldn't commit at the time because I didn't have a solid offer. I just got the offer when I was leaving a camp at Georgia. I started loving Georgia so I didn't want to make a decision. If USF offered me earlier I would have committed, but after that camp I opened it up a little."
Wade says he's still high on USF and could see himself committing there soon. However there is still one hurdle for the Bulls to overcome first.
"I'm going to see what happens. If UGA offers me then I'll take it, but if they don't I'm going to commit to South Florida."
This summer Wade made the recruiting rounds hitting numerous camps, combines and college campuses.
"I had a good summer, did a lot of camps and combines. I also visited Florida, Georgia, South Florida and South Carolina for basketball."
He collected about 20 total offers, but tells USFNation that he's only considering 4 schools.
"I broke it down to Arkansas, South Florida, Georgia and South Carolina." All but Georgia has offered Wade."
The top two are South Florida and Georgia.
USF – I like that I can come in and play early either at wide receiver or kick returner.
Georgia – I fit in with the players and coaches. The coaches treated me real good, they made me feel comfortable, that's what I really liked about them. I also liked their offense a lot.
Wade says Coach Blackwell at USF is recruiting him the hardest right now.
"I talk with Blackwell a lot. I like him because he's a young coach and talks like one of us. He just started coaching and I feel like he'd be a good coach."
A decision could be coming soon, Marquel says possibly by the end of this month or sometime in September. For now he only plans on taking one visit and that would be to Arkansas, but it won't be before making a commitment.
USFNation will catch-up with Marquel Wade in a few weeks to see if he has set a date for his decision.
