Freshmen Forte & Battles Cleared to Play

Freshmen defensive end Julius Forte and running back Bradley Battles were been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse and will resume practicing with the team today.

USF Freshmen defensive end Julius Forte and running back Bradley Battles were been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse and will resume practicing with the Bulls today.

The news came through an announcement from USF head coach Jim Leavitt on his Twitter page "JF and BB are ready to go and will be practicing today," Leavitt wrote. "Need a good practice. We are focused in on our opponent. Working hard."

Forte and Battles were two of four USF freshmen who were not allowed to practice the last couple of days until they were cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. The others were DEs Ryne Giddins and TE Isaac Virgin. Virgin was cleared on Tuesday. This leaves only Ryne Giddins, the 4-star defensive end from Armwood as the only player still waiting to be cleared.


Julius 'JuJu' Forte was a 3-star prospect, rated the 47th best prospect at defensive end by Scout.com. Recorded 95 tackles, 34 tackles for a loss, 14 sacks, three caused fumbles and an interception returned for a touchdown as a senior.


Bradley Battles was a 3-star prospect, ranked the 64th best prospect at running back by Scout.com, and rated 22nd best prospect at running back by ESPN.As a senior, Battles scored 15 touchdowns and had 1756 rushing yards. He also had 54 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1, sack, and 1 fumble recovery while playing safety.
