USF defeated Wofford 40-7 on Saturday night to improve its record in season openers to 9-4 all time and 9-0 in openers at home. Saturday's victory was the fourth straight for the Bulls and their fifth of their previous six. This is now USF's longest winning streak in season openers. Other victims in years past include McNeese State, Elon, and Tennessee-Martin. The star of the show against Wofford was Matt Grothe, who completed 19-23 for 155 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT, and Moise Plancher, who carried the ball 12 times for 78 yards and 2 TDs. George Selvie made his presence felt as well by recording his first sack of the year (26.5 for his career) in the second quarter.
The Bulls are now 12-0 against NCAA Football Championship Series (FCS) (formerly NCAA I-AA) since joining the NCAA Football Bowl Series (formerly NCAA I-A)
-This season USF will honor former player Keeley Dorsey by wearing his No. 10 jersey. Tonight, senior defensive lineman Aaron Harris was the first player to don the jersey. This season would have been Dorsey's senior season.
-Tonight's attendance of 40,360 marks the 11th straight game that the Bulls have played in front of a crowd of 40,000 or more at Raymond James Stadium.
- The game was delayed for about 28 minutes due to lightning in the area.
-USF held a moment of silence prior to Saturday's game for alum Will Bleakley (2004-2006), Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, and NFL free agent Corey Smith, who all passed away on a boating expedition this spring.

- USF possibly received some gift points near the end of the half when the Wofford punter kicked the ball out of the end zone for a safety after a high snap. From the press box view it looks as if the punter could have sat on the ball and ran the clock out.

-WR Jessie Hester Jr., who has been limited while recovering from ankle injury, did not catch a pass which ended his streak of 22 consecutive games with a catch.
-RB Mo Plancher scored his first rushing TD of the season and the seventh of his career on a four yard run in the first quarter. Plancher added his second of the game and the eight of his career in the third quarter. It is Plancher's second multiple touchdown game of his career. The first time he did this came against Tennessee Martin when he ran for two TDs
-QB Matt Grothe threw his first touchdown pass of the year and the 48th of his career with 36 seconds left in the first half on a six yard strike to Theo Wilson. This was also Wilson's first of his career.
-Grothe broke Marquel Blackwell's school record for total offense (10,343) in the first half.
-Grothe recorded 199 yards against Wofford and now needs only 88 yards to surpass Pat White at the all-time leader in total offense in the Big East.
-QB Evan Landi caught his first career reception on Matt Grothe's third pass attempt of the night.
-CB Quenton Washington recovered his second career fumble in the third quarter.
-K Delbert Alverado kicked his 26th career field goal of his career when he nailed a 30-yarder in the third quarter.
-CB Jerome Murphy forced his third career fumble in the third quarter. CB Tyson Butler made his first career fumble recovery on the play.
-RB Lindsey Lamar scored his first career rushing TD in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard scamper.
-WR Jeffrey Wright caught his first career touchdown reception on a 22-yard pass from B.J. Daniels in the fourth quarter. This was also Daniels first career TD pass.
-DE George Selvie recorded his first sack of the year (26.5 for his career) late in the second quarter.
