USF Head Coach Jim Leavitt talks to the media after the Bulls stunning 17-7 win over FSU Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium.
"Certainly it was a great game by our staff and our players. I thought the offensive staff did an extraordinary job getting B.J. Daniels ready. Of course, B.J. did his share. I couldn't be prouder of the defensive staff; the front four was absolutely relentless. We had a real good rotation going. Special teams – we let (Greg) Reid get out on the one. We didn't come to balance with about two or three of our guys from getting down there and covering but we didn't come to balance. You have to give Reid a lot of credit. That was my biggest concern in this game – was Reid. That was my number one concern. I was really worried about our kickoff and how we were going to approach that. We were very fortunate to get out of the gate with that one. We did squib the last one."
"The kick (field goal) that Schwartz had was the key. I felt like if they drove then they would have to go onsides kick and we would have to make a play."
"I thought to hold them to 19 yards rushing was really important. We talked about it at halftime. The key was – I thought they would come back to the run game hard in the second half to set up their boots and play actions and try to go deep."
"We had a very hard week of practice. Monday night we went just like Florida State and Tuesday we go rained our, Wednesday we pounded it for two and a half hours. I really believe that was one of the keys to winning today. We came back Thursday again worked them pretty good too then we worked out Friday morning before we left to get on the busses."
"It's a great win. You know how I feel bout Coach Bowden – everybody does. He's an absolute legend. To have an opportunity to play against him is something I'll never forget."
Coach Leavitt "It's a great win!"
