USF to Face NIU in the International Bowl

The Bulls finally know their bowl destination after accepting an invite to the International Bowl in Toronto where the Bulls will face Northern Illinois of the Mid-American Conference on Jan. 2. This marks the fifth straight bowl appearance for USF, and the first time the Bulls have played in a post New Year's Day bowl

USF officials have announced that the Bulls have accepted a bid to play in the International Bowl in Toronto, and will make their 1st ever post New Year's Day Bowl game. USF will face-off against NIU of the Mid-American Conference Noon on Jan. 2, 2010.

That's now five straight bowl appearances for the Bulls since becoming a BCS and BIG EAST member. USF, West Virginia and Rutgers are the only BIG EAST schools that have reached a bowl since the league realigned its membership in prior to the 2005 season.

USF's five consecutive bowls is a feat in itself considering that only seven schools; Florida, Texas, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Georgia and Georgia Tech have reached a bowl in each year as a member of a BCS conference.

USF is 2-2 in bowl games after a 41-14 win over Memphis in the 2008 magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl. The Bulls went to the Sun Bowl in 2007 losing 56-21 to Oregon, beat East Carolina 24-7 in the Papajohns bowl in 2006, and lost to N.C. State 14-0 in the Meineke Bowl in 2005.
