Bowden is the former head coach at Clemson from 1999-2008, and Tulane, and also is the son of former FSU head coach Bobby Bowden. Tommy Bowden's Clemson teams went 72-45 with eight bowl appearances. He was also at Tulane from 1997-98, going 18-4, and his 1998 Tulane squad went 12–0

Word during the week was that Bowden expressed a very high interest in the USF job, and now it appears the interest was mutual. There is no word yet on how the meeting went.
