Williston ATH/WR Welch Makes Switch to USF

Athlete Deonte Welch from Williston High school has committed to USF after his weekend visit!

Deonte Welch, the 6'0-187 pound athlete of Williston HS, in Williston, FL. has committed to USF this morning, "He is committed to USF," said Head Coach Jamie Baker. "He told me this morning he made the switch after liking everything he saw this weekend." Welch was committed to Arkansas, but made an unofficial visit to USF last Thursday and then returned for an official visit this weekend with his parents.

He chose USF over Arkansas, and had offers from Illinois, Vandy, and Ole Miss, and a few others.

Welch is not very well known because he attends a small school just outside of Gainesville, the same that former USF DL Aaron Harris attended. But he should be. Welch is a versatile player who was named the Florida 1B-2A Offensive Player of the Year by the Gainesville Sun. He's an athlete that runs a 4.4-4.5 and can play multiple positions, and did, CB, RB, WR, KR, PR. He had over 1000 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns, and on defense had four interceptions. He also stars for his basketball squad. He's being recruited as a WR/ATH by USF.
