Bulls or Gators? Decision Coming for Kloss

One of the top rated kickers in the Nation Marvin Kloss will choose between to Florida schools, USF and UF this week. Find out the latest with USFNation.com

For Bulls fans following the recruitment of Barron Collier Kicker Marvin Kloss, you won't have to wait much longer as a decision should be coming this week.

Kloss is one of the top rated kickers in the nation who didn't sign a Letter of Intent on NSD, and was considering his options. The Kicker had several offers from schools like Marshall and Arkansas State, but said numerous times how much he likes USF and was waiting on word of what his options were.

A week ago Friday Kloss received a gray shirt offer from Coach Skip Holtz, but Florida entered the race and the two-time champion Gators offered a similar deal and brought him in this past weekend.

"I went up there and checked everything out, the visit went really good," said Kloss. "Everything was very nice, and the facilities were amazing."

"They're pretty much trying to get me accepted into school as preferred walk-on because they are looking to sign a guy next year, and are maxxed out already for this class. They want me to handle kick-offs right away just like USF, and as long as I commit to the team I'll be on a full ride next year."

Kloss said he would definitely be staying in-state and it would come down to him playing for either the Bulls or Gators. He's already been accepted to USF, but didn't apply to UF previously. Now that may be the only thing holding him up.

"It's going to be either USF or UF without a doubt. It's going to be one of those two schools," said Kloss. "

"I'm just waiting for word from coach Adazio on Wednesday, and if they can get me in, I think I'll be going up there," said Kloss. "If not then it'll be USF."

The Cougars kicker was told that USF will have four specialists on scholarship this upcoming season. At kicker the Bulls have sophomore Maikon Bonani, who injured his back, and is set to return, and was also told that senior walk-on Eric Schwartz would be put on scholarship as well. Competing for punter duties will be Justin Brockhaus-Kann and true freshman Chris Veron. At the same time was told that the Gators have only junior Kaleb Sturgis and one senior punter on scholarship, and believes they will be looking to add a scholarship kicker if not this year than the year after.

"I think the situation up at Florida is better with scholarships and depth charts," said Kloss. USF has four kickers on scholarship and adding a fifth is almost unheard of. UF only has two specialists on scholarship, and will definitely be adding one."

Both schools are offering a gray shirt, but want him to come in early. Kloss carries a 4.3. GPA and scored a 26 ACT and a 1080 on his SAT and qualifies for a Florida Bright Future scholarship and has the option to come in and pay for a semester and go on scholarship in January, or come in January and be on full ride after that. But Kloss wants to get things started.

"On Wednesday or Thursday I'll know more," said Kloss. "We'll see what happens, but I'll have my mind made up by this weekend for sure."
