Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Johnathan Aiken is turning some heads. As a junior he was first Team All Broward County after recording 96 tackles and 6 blocked kicks. He also was part of an impressive South Florida Express team in the Badger Elite 7on7 tourney this past weekend.
"It was amazing and a great opportunity for me," said Aiken. "It was great competition."
The 5'11, 185 pound defensive back that runs a 4.4 40, is athletic, explosive, and is emerging as one of top cornerbacks in this class. He's receiving interests from many schools including Ohio State, West Virginia, USF, Florida and Florida State, Marshall, and UCF.
The talented corner, attended USF's junior day two weeks ago and was very impressed with what he saw.
"Junior Day was amazing," Aiken said. "I loved the facilities, the coaches showed us the campus, it was all beautiful. The facilities, the weight room, and the meeting rooms were all amazing. I like everything about it."
While at the USF junior day Aiken got to meet the coaching staff and received his first offer from the Bulls.
"Getting that offer was amazing because that's one of the schools I'm considering," said Aiken. "I came up for junior day not expecting anything, but they gave me an offer and I was real happy."
It's early in the recruiting period but Aiken says he's favoring his childhood favorite Miami, USF, and Ohio State.
"I'm from Ft. Lauderdale and USF is one of those schools that are not too far away from home but not too close so I like that."
