When the New York giants selected USF defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul with the 15th pick of the first round, they made him the highest university of South Florida player ever selected in the NFL draft. Pierre-Paul is the second Bull selected in the first-round, joining current Dallas All-Pro cornerback Mike Jenkins, who was taken with the 25th overall pick by the Cowboys in the 2008 draft.
At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Pierre-Paul's massive frame and unique speed off the edge allowed him to have a breakout season at USF where he recorded 45 tackles, 16.5 for a loss, 6.5 sacks, 7 QB hurries and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.
Known for his amazing YouTube video where he did a sequence of 13 back flips as part of a challenge with his South Florida teammate Kion Wilson at the International Bowl. Pierre-Paul is an intriguing, raw pass rushing prospect that has tremendous athleticism despite only having one year of FBS experience, Pierre-Paul was considered to have the most upside of any defensive player in this draft based on his raw skills and performance last season.
