After a long wait, King's Fork Center Davante Gadner ended his college recruitment and made his college choice on Monday.

The 6-foot-8, 280-pound big man has announced that he chose the Marquette Golden Eagles over South Florida.

"I chose Marquette, said Gardner. "I liked the atmosphere, the coaches, and their style of play."

This past season Gardner scored finished up his senior year averaging 22.6 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game for a Bulldogs team that has only lost 4 times in their last 59 games.

A lot of schools showed interest in the big man, but in the end it came down to was down two Big East schools, Marquette and South Florida.

"I visited both schools, and both visits were great,' said Gardner. "It was a tough decision to make at the end."

Gardner said both schools did a good job of recruiting him, but in the end he felt Marquette, who went 22-12 overall last season, losing to Washington 80-78 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, was the best choice for him. Adding that making the call to coach Stan Heath wasn't easy.

"I'm happy with my choice," said Gardner. "I feel good now that it's over, and got a whole lot of stress off of me."

Gardner has already signed his Letter of Intent, and will report this June.
