The State of Georgia is known for football, and Stephenson High in Stone Mountain, GA is a school known to produce talent. In 2010 they had over 20 football players go to the next level on scholarship, and 2011 should be no different as they have eight players who already received division I offers. One of them is Willie Davis, a running back that's been making his name known this spring.

"Our spring ball just started and it's going great," said Davis. "The main thing I'm trying to work on is my endurance, my weight, and put everything together."

At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds Davis has gotten a little bigger this year and stronger. With a max bench of 285 pounds and can squat 514 pounds, Davis is a good blend of power and speed.

"I believe that I'm an all-around back," said Davis. "My best assets are running between the tackles, I can run past people, I got nice speed and can get around opponents. I'm also good at changing directions."

As a junior Davis said he had had over 700 yards rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns on limited carries, and caught a couple of passes for just over 100 yards receiving. He also played a little linebacker and racked up a good amount of tackles while on special teams.

"I didn't get a whole lot of carries, but ran hard when I did," said Davis. "I had most of my defensive tackles while on special teams. I don't know if I call myself a special team standout, but I can go down there and hit you. In the MLK game I had a couple tackles on Mack Brown."

This spring Davis has made a name for himself at various combines and camps. At Shuman's National Underclassmen Combine, Davis had a strong showing and earned top running back. Posting solid numbers with a 9'1 broad jump, a 4.60 shuttle, bench pressed 185 lbs 17 times and was impressive during 1 on 1's. He was also a top performer at the Atlanta MVP camp, and named a rising sleeper at the Badger 7on7.

On the recruiting front college programs are taking notice of Davis who had offers from Connecticut, Louisville, Memphis, and Tulane, but with the spring Evaluation period in full swing that should change.

"Recruiting is going great so far, and I feel that my play, my film, and my productivity will tell my true story," said Davis. "I know most colleges come out in the spring, and all ready things are picking up. I just got offered by USF."

It's early in the recruiting process, and Davis already has a solid list of offers, and even though he favors the SEC and ACC, he says one of the BIG EAST programs is sticking out to him right now.

"Right now USF is basically the only one standing out to me right now," said Davis. "I also like a couple of SEC and ACC schools that haven't offered but are showing interest in me, Ole Miss, Auburn, and South Carolina."

"With USF I like that they're in the Tampa Bay area and like the environment," said Davis. "I actually been by the campus before, and liked it. I been by their training facility and liked the structure of it. It looks like a nice school."

The Bulls play out of state, but Davis said he's familiar with the USF football program.

"I actually do know a lot about USF," said Davis. "I know they had quite a few draft picks, and I watched a couple of games during last season against FSU, Miami, and UCONN, and liked how they played."

Even though Davis said he and his teammates favor the SEC and ACC schools, he also likes the Big East and the Big 10, but the Florida schools stand out as well.

"I do like the Florida schools," said Davis. "And even though USF doesn't play in the SEC or ACC, they play like they do, with all that Florida speed."

Davis said he's being recruited by USF receivers Coach Phil McGeoghan, who came by this spring and after talking with his coach, Davis contacted him to find out more.

"I talked with Coach McGeoghan, and he seems like a real cool coach," said Davis. "He told me a lot about the program, and I'm looking forward to talking with their running back coach and offensive coordinator Todd Fitch, and their head coach Skip Holtz."

Davis has been to several camps so far and plans on taking some visits this spring and summer.

"I plan on going to USF, Coach Phil aid he'll be setting that up," said Davis. "I also plan on going to Auburn, and probably a couple of SEC schools"

In the classroom Davis said he carries a 3.0 GPA with a 2.9 core, and just took the SAT this past Saturday.

Davis said he's not sure about the time frame when he makes a choice, as he's focused on his upcoming senior season.

"I'm not sure when I'll decide, it depends on the recruiting process," said Davis. "I'm focused on winning the state championship this year. I f my decision doesn't come before the season, then it'll be right afterwards."
