Bulls Newest WR Commit a Big One, Literally

USF picked up a commit from 6'8,245 pound WR T.J. Knowles from Saddleback CC, who will be eligible tom play for USF this fall.

The Bulls just picked up their newest commit, and it's a big one, literally.

Saddleback's T.J. Knowles (6-8, 245), one of the top JUCO wide outs in the country last year just committed to USF while on a visit.

"Things are going great, and I gave USF my verbal commitment, and I'm very excited" said T.J. Knowles. "I just got out of dinner with the coaches, they made the offer official and I committed."

The huge wide receiver, who measures in at 6'8" and 245 pounds, had an outstanding season for the Gauchos in 2009, posting 49 receptions for 924 yards and seven touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories.

"I'm definitely committed to South Florida," said Knowles. "I can't wait to get out here as soon as I can, start working with the team, develop the team concept, and get to work."

Knowles chose USF over offers from Washington State, Arkansas State, and Oregon State, plus other schools were beginning to show interest as well.

"I chose South Florida for several reasons" said Knowles, the level of competition for one, and that was definitely a big factor for me. The coaching staff and players are great, and they all made me feel very comfortable."

Knowles prepped at Cornel HS in Las Vegas and caught 55 passes for 985 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning first team All-State, All-Conference and Team MVP as a senior, finishing with 96 passes and 25 touchdowns during the final two years of his prep career. Knowles then had two car accidents in a six month span that derailed his career, and went to play for West Texas A&M where he redshirted.

"After two accidents in 6 months Texas A & M was the only option I had," said Knowles. "After I redshirted at West Texas A&M, I felt better and I felt I could play at a higher level, so my coaches talked to the Saddleback coaches and I transferred hear last year. It worked out pretty well."

T.J. carries a 4.0 GPA and he'll graduate this July, joining the team this summer with 3 years of eligibility remaining

"My commitment to USF is solid, 100 percent," said Knowles.
