The South Florida Bulls received their 2nd commitment for the 2011 recruiting class Tuesday night, with the news that Rontavious Atkins, a 6-foot, 185-pound safety from Pahokee has pledged to the Bulls.

"I committed to USF last night," said Atkins. "I called Coach Kevin Patrick and Coach Rick Smith and told them I was ready to be a Bull!"

Atkins committed to USF over scholarship offers from Wake Forest, Bowling Green, Florida International and Western Michigan. Plus plenty of other schools were showing interest.

"I chose USF because I feel like I can fit in very well with their program, said Atkins. "The coaches showed me a lot of love, and they they've been a good school for DB's and safety over the years. They're also closer to home so my family could see me play."

As a junior Atkins played safety and linebacker, registering 52 tackles, 40 solo tackles, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.

"I'm very excited. They were one of the top schools that I wanted to go to."
