Jacksonville linebacker Terrence Plummer from Orange Park HS was a standout defender for the Raiders as a junior, recording 80 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovered, earning first team All-County, and All-State Honorable Mention for class 6A. On Saturday he was one of the top linebackers that participated in the USF SuperBull and afterwards talked with USFNation.com about the event.
"I think I did real well in my position drills, my bag drills, and foot work," said Plummer. "Coach Snyder said I did real well. I was looking forward to doing one-on-ones, but the weather got the best of us."
Plummer was part of a group of very talented linebackers at the camp, and said a few stood out to him.Click here for more info or to share your thoughts with other USFN insiders -- get the inside scoop!
"Guys that stood out to me was the linebacker from Lakeland Kathleen, (Gionni Paul), the big tall linebacker number 122 (Zack Bulloch), and the kid with dreads ( Ramik Wilson) he was real good with his footwork."
"I think I did real good and stood out to the coaches," said Plummer. "I'm already offered by them but I wanted to show them my ability, and I think I did real well today."
Besides an offer from South Florida, Plummer claims offers from UConn, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, UCF, FIU, Troy, Middle Tennessee and West Virginia is showing interest. Currently Plummer said that he currently has several schools that stand out to him.
"My top five schools are USF, UCF, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee, and UConn and Troy are in that mix," said Plummer. "So it's a big top 5."
The Jacksonville linebacker has already seen a few of his top schools, including South Florida.
"I've been to University of central Florida's campus, and it's nice. South Florida has a beautiful campus, at Vanderbilt I loved the campus at Nashville, and I want to get up to UConn because I heard it's nice, but it's cold up there and from Florida."
Plummer talks about what makes USF standout to him as one of his top schools.
"What I know about South Florida is over the last couple of years they've come up in the rankings in the Big East. They beat FSU last year, and they play Miami every year and I want to play Miami because they have great players there," said Plummer. "They're in a great conference and I feel they're on the come-up. They got Skip Holtz and he turned around ECU, so I fell like it's a good place."
The Orange Park stand-out knows a few USF players and recently found out he has a connection with a current USF linebacker from Jacksonville.
"Yes sir, I know Sam Barrington, and just found out he's my cousin, we have the same aunt and she's the mayor of Green Cove Springs Florida," said Plummer. "I know B.J. Daniels, and he already got drafted, but I know George Selvie, and Jason Pierre-Paul."
While he's still deciding on his summer plans Plummer said he works everyday and is focused on his upcoming season.
"I play basketball, and every day I go to my school and workout, just trying to get better and ready for my upcoming senior year."
Plummer said he's in no rush to make a commitment, and plans on trimming his list, take his officials and then look for guidance.
"I'm going to try and narrow my options down by the end of the football season," said Plummer. "If I find a college that I really love, and I love USF, I'm not going to commit yet, but I really like how they are, and I'm going to try and make take my official visits after that. I'm going to sit down with my family, and talk with God and ask which way I should go."
