Milton QB: "I can see myself playing at USF"

One of USF's top quarterback targets for the Class of 2011 in Milton High's Matt Floyd, a 6'2-190 pound quarterback that threw for 1,711 yards and 14 TD's, adding 421 yards rushing and nine TDs as a junior. Floyd participated in the USF Super Bull Camp on Saturday, and came away impressed. caught up with the talented QB and got his thought on the camp and where the Bulls stand.

During the past weekend USF hosted its annual Super Bull Camp which draws some of the top talent around the state. This year was no different and USFNation caught up to one of USF's top quarterback targets for the Class of 2011 in Milton HS player Matt Floyd.

"It was a lot of fun, I enjoyed working with Coach Vaas and all of the other coaches, it was a lot of fun!"

Despite the poor weather hampering things, it has been a common theme amongst the recruits that we've spoken to in regards to how well the camp was run.

With Floyd it was no different, "We got to learn what it was like to work with the coaches, and that was the big important thing why we came here: just to learn and know how it's like to work with them and how they coach. We got more personal and built a relationship. It went really well."

Naturally as a quarterback you tend to notice playmakers on the field and because the rain prevented Floyd from the throwing to the receivers another prospect caught his eye.

"We didn't get to work a lot with the receivers because of the rain, but there was a tight end out there that did really well."

That tight end he was referring to was Brandon Fulse a 4-star prospect from Fort Meade, FL amassing over 20 offers from many top BCS schools including one from USF.

At 6'11/2"-6'2" 190 lbs, the Milton HS signal caller has solid size for the position and combined with his talent, he has received a slew of offers this Spring and is drawing interest from many more.

"I have 14 D-1 offers right now," said Floyd. "Southern Miss, Louisville, USF, UCF, those are some of the bigger ones right now."

Concerning a potential top five schools, Floyd responded "Right now in my mind I have the ones who I can consider the guys that I feel I could play for, but right now I'm still trying to make a decision in narrowing things down."

"I don't have a list that I can name yet, but I can see myself playing at USF, I really liked it a lot!"

When asked about what he likes about USF, Floyd had this to say, "I like the coaches and the people around here. I felt comfortable here, I had a lot of fun working with them and I feel I can continue to work with them here, get better and hopefully get to the next level."

Not only did the coaches impress Floyd but the campus and facilities made a big impression on him as well.

"They were really nice, and of course it being in Tampa too, that has everything and anything to do. I really liked it! I've visited six schools this summer, going around trying to compare and contrast them, but USF is definitely a great place."

With that said, Floyd was also asked about what he looks for in a program.

"Coaches and being comfortable is the main thing. I want to be comfortable where I'm at and be able to excel. I want to see that the team is going in the right direction and going towards being the best. A team that is working together, that is real close and a good family team, those are big things to me."

With the meat of the summer already under way Floyd still has a visit left to make.

"We're going to go back to Ole Miss on the 17th [of July] for their Senior Day and then we're finished after that but I've been to some Mississippi schools so far."

Now that many of his visits are out of the way, Floyd has a preliminary time table for when he would like to make a decision.

"The perfect situation would be to commit at the end of the summer but we're going to wait and make sure we're absolutely comfortable with what we have and where I'd want to go."
