Gainesville defensive lineman Jordan Williams was flying under the radar when the Bulls first indentified him, but that no longer the case as the 6-foot-4, 245 pound DL/OLB prospect has seen his recruitment take off this spring.
This past Saturday he was one of the top defensive line prospects at the USF SuperBull, and afterwards talked with USFN in this video exclusive about his camp experience, his leaders, and who's on top, and when he will make his choice.
"I thought the camp was fun, I had real fun time, and thought I did alright," said Williams. "I think I did okay on the 3-cone shuttle, I ran a 4.4, and think that's pretty good."
"I'm a little upset that we didn't get to do the one-on-ones that really shows what you can do," said Williams. "But we all had a great time."
While at the camp Williams got an opportunity to see what the USF coaching staff was like out on the field.
"I liked the drills that the coaches ran, and got a good look of how the coaches' coach and things like that."
"The coaches said I looked good, and coming to this camp helped me with my spot on the field and stuff like that."
To go with his offer from USF, Williams now has offers from Maryland, N.C. State, Duke, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Iowa State, Troy, UCF, Syracuse, Troy, NC State, with Oregon , Arkansas, and Michigan State being the most recent. With it being July and an impressive list of suitors, Williams said several schools are sticking out to him at this time.
"A couple are standing out to me are USF, Oregon, Arkansas, Louisville, and Maryland," said Williams. "Those are just a couple of schools that are standing out to me right now. I'm going to take a look at all of them, just to see, and narrow it down soon."
The stand-out defensive lineman talks about what puts the Bulls at the top of the list.
"They were the first ones to offer me, and they were the first ones to see what I had. I've built a good relationship with the coaching staff. They have a great program coming up, and got a program that is going to build up to be even better."
Williams said next on tap for him is plans to take a couple of visits this summer, "I'm taking a couple in July to Arkansas and Louisville."
As to when he plans on making his decision, Williams indicated that it could be this summer, during the season or come down to signing day.
"I'm not sure right now, just whenever it feels comfortable"
