The native of Lake Wales, Fla., was originally the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavericks acquired his rights from Memphis for cash considerations in a draft day trade.
Jones has played in three summer league games since his acquisition, averaging 12.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.7 steals in 34.0 minutes per game. See his Mavericks bio.
He started his first game of the summer as one of three guards against Denver on July 9. Jones opened his summer career with a 19-point, 4-rebound outing, hitting 5-of-13 from the field and 9-of-12 at the free throw line. Check out the box score.
At USF, Jones was an honorable mention All-American and a finalist for both the Wooden Award and Naismith Award as a junior and was the only player in the nation to average at least 21 points, six rebounds and three assists per contest. He ranked second in the Big East (15th in the nation) in scoring in his final season with USF.
