Gainesville DL Makes Another Trip to USF

Gainesville defensive lineman Trevarris Saulsberry, one of the Bulls top DL targets took another trip to Tampa to check out USF. The 3-star DL talks about his visit, what he did different this time, his leader board, and when he plans on making his decision.

Trevarris Saulsberry, the 6-foot-4 ½, 265 pound defensive lineman that plays for State runner-up Gainesville HS has been busy taking visits this summer, and this past weekend took another visit to check out USF.

"I went down to USF this past weekend for an unofficial visit with my family," said Saulsberry. "They had a little get-together, and we went out to eat with the team, it was a good time."

Saulsberry has already been to USF several times and seen the campus and facilities, but this time got to do a little something different.

"This weekend I got to meet the team," said Saulsberry. "I got to meet the whole team. We hung out talked, played pool, and got to know each other. It was a good experience."

"All of them were very welcoming and were cool dudes," said Saulsberry. "Everybody came up to me and talked with me. Nobody stayed in the shadows and weren't speaking."

Saulsberry said he got to meet and talk with most of the players, but spent the most time with Bulls quarterback B.J. Daniels.

"The guy I hung out with the most was B.J. Daniels," said Saulsberry. "I knew of him before, but didn't personally know him. He was a really cool guy to hang with and to talk to. He gave me some things to think about regarding the recruiting process. He also told me how the school was, college life, and how to manage your time between football and school."

The 3-star prospect is ranked the No. 86 best DE by Scout.com, but also plays DT, registering 50 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered, and got to spend time with the USF defensive line unit.

"I got to hang out with a lot of the D-linemen and other guys too, but it's hard to remember all their names. I know Terrell McClain, but he wasn't there. I got to hang with a few of the younger defensive ends, I think JuJu Forte was one, and a few of the older guys too. They were all great and asked me a lot of questions like what position I play and gave me a few pointers."

Besides getting a chance to meet and bond with the USF football team, Saulsberry and his family got to spend time with his primary recruiter Coach Phil McGeoghan.

"We spoke a lot with coach McGeoghan, and like him a lot," said Saulsberry. "He's a cool coach and a cool person. He's very down to earth and easy to talk with."

Saulsberry has accumulated 11 offers including USF, Oregon, Michigan State, Syracuse, Iowa State, UCF, Syracuse, Marshall, Troy and FIU, and told USFN that of those offers has a list of favorites

"My favorites are USF, Michigan State, Syracuse, Oregon, and Iowa State" said Saulsberry. "That order is just about right."

Saulsberry said that even though he seen USF many times already, this visit helped as he's trying to take trips to different schools to get a feel for each one.

"The visit helped it a lot," said Saulsberry. "I'm trying to build the same thing for these other schools, get a good feel for it and make a good decision."

"I've been to plenty of schools Georgia, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, USF, UCF, South Carolina, FIU, Troy, and I'm at Tennessee this week."

Besides USF, Saulsberry hasn't been to his other top schools, but is planning to before he makes his choice.

"No sir I haven't seen them, but I'm planning on taking my officials there to see them," said Saulsberry. "Right now those are the ones, but I haven't set any dates yet."

The stand-out defensive lineman talks about what puts the Bulls at the top of the list.

"One thing is the proximity to home, and I love the coaches, the players are cool, and I like the defense they run," said Saulsberry. "When I went on my visits, everything feels very right there."

Saulsberry said after the Tennessee camp he's done for the summer. He also said that he doesn't plan on waiting until the end to make his decision.

"I thought about making my choice by the end of the summer," said Trevarris. "But I may not make it until mid-season, after I take my visits."
