Prep school TE has unlimited potential

Leonard Wasike, a former John Curtis Christian tight end who is spending a semester in prep school, has optimum size and speed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, with a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. Where is Wasike currently attending school and which four-year programs is he hearing from?

"I'm up here at North Carolina Tech, working on academics and getting my ACT score up," said Leonard Wasike. "The school is located in the Charlotte area.

"In my first game, I had three catches for 70 yards at tight end. Right now, I'm 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, and I've been timed at 4.6.

"I'm getting interest from Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi, Michigan, and a few other schools. I'd say Ole Miss is recruiting me the most. I like them because it's a nice university and it's close to home."

In his final year at John Curtis Christian, Wasike caught approximately 20 passes for 250 yards in the run-oriented veer offense favored by the Patriots.

"Leonard is a guy who has a lot of potential and has a great frame," said longtime Curtis offensive coordinator Jeff Curtis. "He had never played football until he came to Curtis his freshman year. His best football could and should still be in front of him. He could bulk up and become a really good blocking tight end. He has very good hands already. I like his potential."

Wasike is scheduled to take the ACT again on September 11th.
