Junior Spotlight: Jeremy Doucette

Cecilia HS linebacker/fullback Jeremy Doucette has tremendous size at 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, and the junior's recruitment could explode if he has a nice outing this week versus one of the top running backs in the nation. Read further to get the details.

"I play inside linebacker in the 40 defense and I also play some fullback," said Cecilia High School junior Jeremy Doucette (6-1, 230, 4.7), who blocks for one of the best running backs in Louisiana, senior speed merchant Montrel Carter. "I'm not sure which position I'm better at; I've played more linebacker in high school, while I played more fullback when I was younger - in junior high."

The Bulldogs (1-1) take on Patterson and four-star RB Kenny Hilliard this week in a game that could pay dividends for Doucette -- if he can slow down the heralded LSU commit.

"He's a good running back," said Doucette of Hilliard. "We need to stay correct with our responsibilities against them. Our defensive line will try to do its job and then I'll work on filling the hole and making good form tackles.

"We're going to work on giving it to him - punishing him - every time he touches the football and hopefully tire him out."

Earlier this year, Doucette broke the school record in the bench press by boosting 350 pounds and when college recruiters have visited the Cecilia campus to evaluate Carter, they've taken notice of the big junior.

"Montrel brought me to a few camps," he said, "and all the college coaches said that they want to see more of me. I'm hearing from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Louisiana-Lafayette. I'd like to hear from SMU."

Last week, Doucette recorded five solo stops in Cecilia's 17-7 loss to St. Louis Catholic. The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the year.
