Brenham, which entertains Magnolia West (2-1) on September 24th (the Cubs have an open date this week) in the initial district game for each school, has yielded a meager 12 points this season.
Hubert is among the team leaders in tackles with 12, and the SMU commit has already broken up six passes.
Several weeks ago, Hubert's former teammate, Jeremy Hall, wasn't allowed admission to SMU for the fall semester, and there was concern that Hubert might withdraw his verbal pledge to the Mustangs as a result.
"I'm still committed to SMU," Hubert said, "but I'm also looking at some other schools. UTSA and Colorado State have offered and I'm talking to Kansas, Houston, and Texas Tech. I think that Kansas might be close to offering me, but they want to see me play first."
Hubert said that there's no hard feelings with the issue regarding Hall.
"(Jeremy) talked to me about what happened with him," explained Hubert, "and he said that what happened with him - shouldn't happen with me."
In 2009, Brenham went 13-3 and finished as the runner-up to Aledo in Texas' 4A Division II.
