Salmen CB takes first official visit

Salmen cornerback Chrishawn Dupuy took his first official visit last weekend. Where did he go? Read further to get the details.

"I took an official visit to Miami of Ohio and it was a good experience," said Salmen (Slidell, La.) cornerback Chrishawn Dupuy. "I didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed myself.

"They have a nice campus; it's beautiful. Their business program is what I liked the most. It's state of the art.

"Overall, it was a nice trip and they beat Colorado State while I was up there. Their coaches want me to commit, but they're willing to wait on me and let me make the decision when I'm ready.

"They really want me up there. The only issue is that it's so far up there. They have a tie to Louisiana with their DB coach, Lance Guidry (former Carencro High School head coach and McNeese State assistant)."

Last year, Salmen High advanced to the Class 4A semifinals and the Spartans appear to be even stronger in 2010. Dupuy and his teammates are 3-0 after defeating John Curtis Christian in Week Three.

"Against Curtis, we got on top early and we knew that we were in for a fight," Dupuy said. "We had to get on top and stay on top against them.

"It was a hard-fought victory and the game came down to the end. You can't take anything away from John Curtis."

Dupuy has offers from Richmond and Miami (Ohio) and he's also getting steady interest from Tulane.
