2012 OL attends back-to-back SMU games

With its 2011 recruiting class nearing capacity, SMU is increasing its focus on the current crop of junior prospects, and Mildred HS offensive guard Beau Jenkins is receiving plenty of attention from Mustangs offensive line coach Adrian Klemm.

"I play for a smaller classication (2A) school and so I go both ways - at offensive guard and defensive tackle," said junior Beau Jenkins.

"Right now, I'm 6-foot-3 and my weight moves from 275-to-280 pounds. Unfortunately, my season has been cut short by a torn ACL. I've been staying positive, since there's nothing I can do about it."

The past two weekends, Jenkins has attended SMU's games vs. TCU and Washington State, respectively, and he's being recruited by offensive line coach Adrian Klemm.

"Coach Klemm is a great guy and I like him as both a coach and a person," said Jenkins. "I thought SMU played hard in both of the games that I watched.

"I'm being recruited by SMU, Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado State, and Penn State, with SMU showing me the most interest. I like the fact that SMU is close to home - about an hour drive from Corsicana. You can get a good education from SMU."

What are Jenkins' strengths on the field?

"I'm bigger, faster, and stronger than most players on the 2A level," he said. "Last year, I started on both sides of the ball and I graded at 95% on offense. On defense, I had 30 solo tackles and 10 tackles for loss."
