Katy Cinco Ranch and electric running back K.C. Nlemchi are 5-0 and ranked No. 5 in Texas' 5A classification entering this week's District 19-5A matchup vs. the Houston Memorial Mustangs and defensive end James Rushing.

The Mustangs dropped two out of three to open the year, but are 2-0 in district, having easily defeated Morton Ranch and Mayde Creek by a combined tally of 79-20.

Nlemchi, the No. 44-ranked RB in the nation, has rushed for 608 yards this year, including a season-high 186-yard effort last week vs. Seven Lakes. He has 11 touchdowns on the season and is averaging close to seven yards per carry.

Future SMU quarterback Conner Preston receives a well-deserved break this weekend, as his 5-0 Cavaliers have an open date. Next week, Serra is back in action vs. St. Francis (3-1) in the league opener for each squad.

Last week, Preston connected on four TD passes in Serra's 48-20 victory over Narbonne and SMU prospect Dontae Levingston. For the year, Preston has completed 52-of-81 passes for 1,322 yards with 14 TDs and only three interceptions.

Four-star outside linebacker Devon Moreland recorded a season-high 16 tackles last week in Bishop Mora Salesian's 21-14 loss to undefeated Whittier Christian. 12 of Moreland's stops were of the solo variety and he added two sacks. For the season, the No. 15-ranked OLB in the nation has seven sacks and 51 tackles.

St. Paul's and WR Jermaine Sams are 5-0 and ranked No. 2 in Louisiana's 5A classification, according to one media outlet. This week, the Wolves entertain 3-2 Slidell, which has a pair of former St. Paul's stars (and close friends of Sams) on the roster: RB/WR Stephon Smith and CB Stephen Smith.

Sams is leading his team in receiving with 12 catches for 233 yards (19.42 yards per reception) and two TDs, including a long of 99 yards. He's also averaging 38 yards per kickoff return (7-266).

Mesquite Horn and three-star defensive end Stephon Sanders are 3-2 heading into this week's District 11-5A tilt with winless Tyler Lee. Sanders is among the team leaders with 24 tackles (20 solo) for the Jaguars and he leads Horn in sacks (with two). The SMU commit has also recovered a fumble.

Zachary Wood and 5-1 Rowlett have an open date before resuming District 10-5A competition next week vs. 4-2 Garland. Wood is second on the team with 37 tackles (34 solo). Moreover, the three-star has three sacks and has forced a pair of fumbles.
