Moreland: "I'm solid!"

SMU commitment Davon Moreland shocked many when he committed to the Mustangs back in the summer. Now, the senior has taken his official visit to the Hilltop. What did he think? We have the answers inside.

There was no doubt that this recruiting weekend was one of the biggest in SMU history since the 1980s.

Two of the reasons why?

4-star SMU commitment Davon Moreland and SMU 3-star offeree Dontae Levingston.

The good news for the Mustangs. While they never have met, the two California natives seemed to establish a bond this weekend. Maybe it's because they were the two mostly high recruits in attendance. Maybe it's because both of them are from California? In the end, it doesn't really matter.

"It was cool. I liked the atmosphere around the SMU football program. The school is beautiful and my boy Dontae liked it to," said Moreland to PonyStampede.com. "He's got a big decision to make about coming here."

While Moreland has already made that decision, the 4-star linebacker has been up front about taking other official visits during the recruiting process. While many fans were scared that the weather delays and team's play might have affected his decision, neither seemed to bother the 2011 commitment.

"Weather is going to be weather. There is nothing you can do about it," said Moreland. "I made the right decision. I'm really strong to SMU. I'm solid.

"The highlight of my trip was getting a chance to hang out with Coach Klemm. In my meeting with him and Coach Jones, we just talked about how I was coming to come in and play right away. It was great."

PonyStampede.com will have a more in-depth interview with Moreland in the next day or so.
