The Christmas Wish List

Happy Holidays from Come inside to find out our Christmas Wish List for 2011. Publisher Josh Harvey - It's hard to pick one. I guess I'm a greedy person at times. I could say more members, but I realize the job that we do dictates that. It's been another great year in 2010. Another bowl game, a great incoming recruiting class in both football and basketball, and national relevance in the form of a great ESPN documentary.

My wish for 2011 will be for SMU to take the next step in the June Jones era in 2011. Bowl games are great, conference championships will be better. I have no doubt in the my mind that SMU will eventually be a program that is talked among circles as one of the best non-BCS teams in the land. We are not quite there yet, but it's coming!

I appreciate all the friendships that I have formed on this site. We look forward to our continual coverage in 2011. Assistant Publisher Mike Coppage - I'm thankful for the resurrection of SMU's football program. Many thanks to head coach June Jones and his staff for the excitement they've returned to a storied, proud program that many people across the nation had forgotten. I wish that the coaches, players, and fans will be able to celebrate a second consecutive bowl victory in a few days. I wish for continued momentum at SMU, in the form of more fan support, a string of outstanding recruiting classes, and (of course) success on the field. It's been a blast covering the Mustangs since I started this job! Hoops Editor Kyle Phillippi - All I want for Christmas is a winning record in conference play. The last time SMU finished with a winning conference record was in the 2002-03 season when they went 17-13 (11-7). Their last .500 season in C-USA play was in the 2004-05 season (9-9). In 2010, SMU has a chance to enter conference play well over .500, but it doesn't matter how well they do beforehand. SMU, as it stands now, is ahead of four teams in terms of overall record. There are seven teams with three or less losses, including #17 Memphis and undefeated UCF. This could be one of the toughest seasons in the C-USA, and seeing that SMU lacks depth and scorers, the Mustangs could have an uphill battle.

But it's Christmas, and everyone can hope for the best! Happy Holidays to SMU Nation!
